Here is a brief synopsis on how the band Full Moon Fever started:

In February of 2019, Rick was in Virginia Beach doing some drywall repair at his Daughter (Amanda) and son in laws (Josh) home.
Satellite Radio was on and had mentioned that the album Full Moon Fever by Tom Petty had hit its 30 year anniversary. After hearing a song from the album, Rick requested Siri to play the entire Full Moon Fever album while working.
“It brought back some great memories from years ago and seamed like every song was better than the last”. Then Rick came up with the idea to assemble a band that was willing to play the Full Moon Fever album in its entirety. “My first phone call was to my brother in law Pete, “ Hey Bro, I’m thinking of putting a band together to play the entire Tom Petty Full Moon Fever album, what do you think”? Total silence on the other end of the phone! “Hello” Rick said, “Who” he Said? “Tom Petty” said Rick.
“Don’t you remember the Full Moon Fever album, Ya know, Free Fallin, Wont Back Down, Runnin down a dream”? “ Yea I remember, sure, lets do it” Pete said.
So the search began for band members. “ We went back to the guys that played in our bands when we were kids and kept getting the same answer, nope, I’m out”!
“It was so discouraging, I thought we had such a great idea, but could not get anyone on board”. “Days later we found out that one of the guys in our motorcycle club (American Association Of Old Bold Bald Riders) played Keys”. “On a Thursday night ride we cornered him so he didn’t have a choice, LOL” said Rick. Rodney said “I’m in”. In late 2021 we brought in Al Stiver on Lead guitar, who can play an unbelievable Mike Campbell Guitar. Followed by Antonio Palagruto on Acoustic guitar and Harmonica, Mike Hafler joining us on Lead vocals along with the Petty Rhythm Guitar.
2025 Update, after 2 years of practice and 5 years of rocking the Tom Petty hits, I have decided to move on from FMF. I want to thank everyone associated with the FMF family including but not limited to, first the band members, Pete, Rodney, Al, Mike, Antonio, Bob and Cam, our good friends Mike and Diane and family, Bill and Jenette, Darren and Mary, Big Jim and Joanne, Billy and all the AAOOBBR guys who came out many times over the years, Past band members, Rob, Ricky, Johnie and Patrick. And any one else that just came out to see us. We really enjoyed spending time with you and are very appreciative of your efforts. I hope to stay in touch with all of you over the years to come. It’s time for me to move on to my next big project, spending more time with my 2 new grandchildren, boating and fishing with nothing on my hook. Our final gig will be February 22, 2025, at the Red Stallion in Warminster. We will be bringing back many of the past members that night to join us. Hope to see you all there, Hugs and Kisses,
Rick Ervin
